Sunflower Fields!
Japan's fertile soil never ceases to amaze us, as every day something new is blooming and beautiful. Sunflowers are the star of the summer show and we were fortunate to have been given accurate directions to the sunflower fields in Zama, a neighboring city. We were warned, "they aren't that big, maybe the size of a football field". Huh? We're impressed with even 4 sunflowers all standing tall in the same place so a football field's worth was sure to be mesmerizing!
Upon arriving, we were pleasantly surprised to learn that only a nominal parking donation was required, after which we were free to wander through the fields. In addition to viewing platforms (which were unfortunately near fields that were already fading), the sunflower festival going on the weekend of our visit brought out food vendors and produce booths.
Thank you, Japan, for another reason to appreciate summer!
Absolutely beautiful! I love Sunflowers!
