It’s a dream come true for both of us and we have so many
wonderful memories from our wedding that it’s hard to figure out where to even
start this blog. Decades of prayer and months of planning have finally come to
fruition. A lifetime of work, dedication and service to each other will follow,
but what a beautiful day to start it all off!
Our first encounter for the day was just before the wedding in
the Blessed Sacrament chapel on the side of the church. We had decided that we
would not see each other before walking down the aisle, but we did want to pray
together beforehand. So, John arrived at the church first and went to the front
of the side chapel when Jennifer arrived. Jennifer went to the pew behind John
and they shared a short prayer before she departed for the bride’s room.
The moments leading up to the ceremony were emotional for
both of us as we recognized the wonderful magnitude of the union that we were
both anticipating for so long, but as soon as we were joined at the front of
the church (with a hug from the father of the bride), the bride’s hyperventilation
had ceased and we were both in peaceful and cheerful spirits. Everything about
the ceremony was picture perfect, from the music, to the readings, to the
homily, vows, and the sword arch that bid us farewell. Most significantly, we
were surrounded, encouraged, inspired, and assisted by family and friends. We
can’t thank them enough for that!
After the ceremony, we stopped at a local residential green
space to take some photos and then headed over to our reception site to snap a
few twilight photos overlooking Orange County before the party. The reception
continued the trend of joyful celebration with delicious food, touching toasts,
fun memories and a crowded dance floor. We truly couldn’t have asked for a
better celebration.
After the last song was played, our Best Man drove us to
Disneyland where we stayed at the Grand Californian in an amazing suite
overlooking the pool and California Adventure theme park.
When all was said and done, we had countless
memories with absolutely incredible people; and more importantly, we were
MARRIED! The Sacrament had been celebrated and the graces had been conferred.
It was such a blessing to have shared our day with so many people who helped to
make us the man and woman that we are today and we look forward to sharing many
more memories over the years as husband and wife with those same people and
many new souls we meet along the way.
God is good.
