"Where do we go from here? This isn't where we intended to be..."

For those of you who didn't catch the song reference in this post's title, it's from the 1996 movie version of Evita. A somewhat obscure throwback, but a seemingly relevant phrase to announce our upcoming move to Norfolk, VA, since we were hoping to next be stationed in Southern California to be near Jennifer's family. (But seriously, do yourself a favor and see the movie if you haven't. It's excellent...at least Jennifer thinks so.)

Anyway, we're moving to Norfolk at the end of the year, and John will be filling a job at Joint Expeditionary Base - Little Creek. While we won't be near family, we intend to live on base and are very excited for the consolidated convenience that this duty station will offer. In addition to housing more than 20% of the nation's Navy, the Hampton Roads area boasts history, scenic beauty and countless things to see and explore - a great fit for us and all reasons why it was our first choice among the available locations!

Being near John's loving family for what will be a year and a half has been an unbelievable blessing. We welcomed Dominic in their company (Jennifer's parents came too!) and enjoyed watching the boys grow alongside their cousins. It will be a tough goodbye, but we are already looking forward to future visits and are leaving Atlanta with stronger family bonds than when we arrived (and John with his master's degree!).

Cheers to our next adventure, and please let us know if you will be 'round the Chesapeake in the new year!
