Hiking on Fuji

We continued our exploration while Jennifer's parents were here by venturing toward Mount Fuji.  While the season did not allow for summiting this Japanese icon, we did take the opportunity to do some hiking lower on the mountain. The cooler temperatures at that elevation made for a very pleasant hike as we watched the clouds move quickly in and out of the slope's volcanic rocks and crevices. One of the highlights was overlooking the crater of Mount Hoei, an eruption site on the southwestern slope of Mount Fuji's dominant peak. JohnPaul slept through the whole thing :-). Cheers to conquering (the side of) Fuji-San!
